Part-Time Chef de Partie — The Raglan, Walthamstow

Part-time | 2–4 shifts per week | Competitive hourly rate + service charge

The Raglan is a busy, independent food-led pub in Walthamstow, and we’re looking for an experienced Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team on a part-time basis.

We cook everything from scratch, with a menu built around great produce, big flavours and the kind of food we actually want to eat. Think proper pub cooking with Indian and South Asian influences, great Sunday roasts, snacks, grills and regularly changing dishes.

We’re looking for someone who can come into the kitchen, take ownership of a section and be a reliable part of the team.

The role

You’ll be working alongside our Head Chef, Sous Chef and the rest of the brigade, helping with prep and running a section during service.

You’ll be expected to:

  • Confidently run your own section during busy services
  • Prep and cook dishes consistently to a high standard
  • Keep your section organised, clean and ready for service
  • Follow our food safety, allergen and kitchen procedures
  • Help with deliveries, stock rotation and general kitchen organisation
  • Work collaboratively with the rest of the brigade
  • Get involved with specials and menu development if that’s something you’re interested in

Who we’re looking for

You don’t need a particular style of restaurant on your CV, but you do need to be comfortable in a busy fresh-food kitchen.

Ideally you’ll have experience as a CDP, although we’d also consider a strong Demi CDP who’s ready for more responsibility.

More importantly, we’re looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable and organised
  • Confident running a section
  • Calm when service gets busy
  • Interested in food and ingredients
  • Happy working as part of a small team
  • Proud of the food they send out
  • Nice to work with — no egos
  • excited to learn new techniques

What we offer

  • 2–3 shifts per week
  • Competitive hourly rate + service charge
  • Staff meals on shift
  • A genuinely food-focused kitchen
  • Opportunities to learn, develop and contribute ideas
  • Additional shifts where available
  • Potential to progress into a larger role if that’s something you want

This could suit an experienced chef looking for a better work/life balance, someone working around another project or commitment, or a good CDP who simply doesn’t want a five-day kitchen week.

We’re much more interested in finding the right person than receiving the perfect CV.
