I'm recruiting a Food Development Chef for a premium London events business, taking the lead on new dishes, menus and culinary concepts.

We're completely open on sector and background. What matters is someone who lives and breathes food – the ingredients, where they come from, how they're produced, what's in season and the tiny details that turn something good into something exceptional.

The Operation

• Premium London events and catering

• Regular client tastings
• Canapés, bowl food and fine dining
• Bespoke menus and concepts
• High-volume production and live events

The Role

• Lead food development and R&D
• Create new dishes, menus and concepts
• Take ideas from initial development to live delivery
• Lead tastings with high-profile clients
• Tell the story behind the food, ingredients and provenance
• Develop recipes, specifications and plating standards
• Ensure dishes work commercially and at scale
• Inspire and develop the wider culinary team

About You

• Open to chefs from all sectors
• Genuinely obsessed with food and ingredients
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Curious about provenance, sourcing and sustainability
• Always aware of new restaurants, chefs, trends and techniques
• Confident developing dishes and menus
• Engaging and comfortable with VIP clients
• Able to talk passionately and knowledgeably about food
• Commercial enough to understand costing and scalability

You need to be the kind of chef who wants to know where an ingredient came from, why it tastes different, who produced it and why it's right for the dish.

You'll also need to communicate that passion. Tastings are a huge part of the role, so we're looking for someone who can sit with a VIP client and bring the food to life through the story behind it, not simply put a plate in front of them.
