Location: Multi-site role covering Tetbury, Bristol & Bath 

Hours: 40 hours per week, 5 days of 7

Salary: Up to £40,000 + annual bonus scheme

Are you an experienced Multi-Site Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef looking for a fresh challenge? 

We have a fantastic opportunity to build a successful career with our management team in a newly created hospitality role. You will lead the kitchens at our Tetbury, Bath Bristol sites (3 sites in total) delivering exceptional services to our residents.

This is a roving role between both sites catering for exciting themed events across a 5-day calendar including brunches, afternoon teas and Sunday lunches.

About the role

Here at Lifestory we own and manage a portfolio of exclusive later-living complexes including sites and our home owners and renters that live onsite look forward to freshly cooked food and exciting themed events.

This is a front facing role with constant interaction with our residents via open kitchens, therefore calm, courteous and engaging candidates are encouraged to apply. This role is primarily a sole chef operation but with ample support in the kitchens where required. To be successful in this role you will be self-motivated and driven with an ability to ‘get things done’ without constant supervision.

The successful applicant will be integral to the future success of all our sites with internal restaurants and will play a key role in the growth and development of the overall food provision offered within the company.

Your role will involve...

  • Designing a range of exciting menus across both sites including themed events
  • Developing high quality dishes to support menus, maintaining agreed target GP’s
  • Sourcing and the highest level of locally sourced ingredients into each menu 
  • Negotiating and managing supplier accounts ensuring all prices are in agreed limits
  • Helping set up and develop the full food and beverage service at both sites 
  • Maintaining active and engaging interaction with residents during all services 
  • Holding monthly ‘Chef Surgery’ for residents to encourage positive feedback on dining experiences 
  • Full daily responsibility for all aspects of food preparation and delivery from both the kitchen and front of house 
  • Engaging with residents with the aim to drive up meal uptake across both sites for each event
  • Undertaking weekly stock takes, account for any deficiencies and maintain target on GP’s
  • Fully accountable for the cleanliness and safe systems of work in the kitchen and dining areas
  • Adhering to established HACCP processes and local authority 5-star standards 
  • Working with other Head of Departments to deliver a seamless guest experience
  • Leading other staff / team members when necessary

About you

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Food Hygiene Level 2 certificate, taken within the last 5 years 

Experience

  • At least 2 year’s experience heading up a similar sized kitchen 
  • Planning of menus considering nutritional requirements (and needs of the demographic in Role question would be preferable)
  • Budgeting, ordering and preparation of food provision in order to achieve profit

Skills & knowledge

  • Conversant with Food Hygiene Regulations and Legislations
  • Strong Computer skills such using Word/Excelor Google Suite/Gmail an advantage
  • Confidence in dealing with all HACCP and Food Standards Agency documentation 
  • Ability to maintain high level of cleanliness across all areas of the kitchen 
  • Able to plan effectively and provide a great food provision within parameters of budgets

This role will involve travel between both sites so a full clean driving licence and own car is essential.
