The Standard is one of the most culturally engaged hotels in the world, with an inclusive spirit and true creative attitude. We are defined by our richness of personality, diversity of background and lifestyle, and are now looking for a talented, experienced and inspiring individual to join our senior Kitchen leadership team as Head Chef.

Your role

As Head Chef of our Main Kitchen you report directly to the Executive Chef and lead the execution of all culinary operations and supervise the kitchen team as they deliver service across Isla, Double Standard, The Library Lounge, The Rooftop (seasonal), In-Room Dining and Events, and lead our high-profile pop-ups, activations, and guest chef collaborations – so you will have an exceptional working knowledge of kitchen operations and a deep appreciation for quality food and the London restaurant scene.

As Head Chef you are a natural team leader, you remain calm during challenging situations and lead from the front. You will motivate, coach and develop your kitchen brigade, fostering a culture of accountability and creativity, and hold yourself and your team to highest standards.

Kitchen leadership is central to this role, from daily sourcing of ingredients, development and production of dishes, product control, stock management and food cost oversight, to maintaining rigorous food hygiene and health and safety standards.

Do you have what it takes to be a Head Chef at The Standard

‘Standard People’ are at the heart of our brand; vivid, dynamic and engaging. As Head Chef you will need to be upbeat and friendly, confident and handle pressure well, thrive in a high-energy kitchen environment, and manage multiple tasks with ease.

Essential for this role is strong proven experience as a Head Chef or Sous Chef gained within a similar Lifestyle Hotel or high-level restaurant. In addition to this you will also need…

  • Prior experience managing and developing a brigade of chefs to deliver the highest quality food
  • A solid understanding of the London culinary scene, emerging trends and competitors
  • Experience across a range of senior management disciplines, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • To be highly motivated and pro-active; act with professionalism and positivity in all interactions
  • The ability to develop and deliver effective training to maintain consistent service standards throughout your team
  • Full-time availability and flexibility to work Monday-Sunday

We are defined by our richness of personality and diversity of background and lifestyle so if you think you have what it takes to be our Head Chef we’d love to hear from you.

All applicants must be eligible to live and work in the UK. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from candidates prior to commencing employment.
